The Zoloft birth defects lawsuits being filed around the country have primarily focused on heart defects found in babies whose mothers had used Zoloft during the pregnancy. Some of the heart defects include atrial septal defects, ventricular septal defects, tetralogy of fallot, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, transposition of the great arteries (TGA or TOGA), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR), double outlet right ventricle (DORV), and coarctation of the aorta (CoA).
In addition to the serious heart defects caused by Zoloft and other antidepressant drugs, studies have also shown a connection between craniosynostosis and Zoloft use.
Lawsuits for craniosynostosis are being brought on behalf of babies born with the condition whose mothers used Zoloft during their pregnancy.
