Two people were killed in a truck accident in Texas when a tractor-trailer landed on top of a Ford SUV after hitting a toll booth on the North Beltway. Onlookers were powerless to help, as both vehicles exploded into searing flames.

Authorities believe the fatal truck accident was set in motion when the driver of the big rig fell asleep at the wheel and careened off of a concrete barrier before slamming into an empty toll booth. The truck was traveling at an estimated 45 mph, which was fast enough to launch the big vehicle into the air, coming to rest on top of a Ford Expedition. The driver of the SUV was attempting to pay the toll when the accident occurred. Both drivers were killed in the accident.

An eyewitness who took video of the fiery spectacle with her phone was one of the first people on the scene. She described it as something out of a Hollywood movie production, but said the sight was so terrible it wasn't something that anyone would want to see. The witness went on to say that just moments before, the truck had sped right past her. She and a police officer stood at a safe distance and watched the flames, the extreme heat from the blaze preventing them from being able to assist the victims.

The accident took place at about 2:30 a.m. and completely closed the toll way for roughly six hours. The truck was owned by Penske Trucking, and was being driven by an employee of the person who leased the truck.

The names of the victims have not been released.
