According to the Houston Police Department, one woman has been charged in connection with an accident that ultimately involved six vehicles. The fatal accident sent two passengers to the hospital. One of those patients later died from the injuries sustained in the accident.
The accident occurred as the woman charged in the accident was traveling south on Texas 6 in Houston near Piping Rock Lane when she veered into oncoming traffic slamming into a Ford Escape. Next, she hit a Hyundai that careened out of control and was struck by two other vehicles. During the accident, two of the passengers in the backseat of the Hyundai were ejected. They were taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where one of the passengers later died. At last report, the other passenger is listed as being in serious condition.
It is not known whether anyone else was injured in the accident. The woman that has been charged is being held in the Harris County Jail. Her bond has been set at $30,000.
As one person clings to life and another person's family is forced to bury him prematurely, the last thing they may be thinking about is the fact that they have the right to file a civil action against the driver in connection with this fatal accident. If civil action is filed, the victims and their families may be able to recoup the out-of-pocket expenses they have incurred as a result of this accident. Expenses such as medical bills, lost wages and funeral costs can add up quickly and cause a family to be financially devastated. No amount of money can make up for the losses of that day, but it may help with the financial recovery.
